Neighbors in Camillus are rallying around a Marcellus woman battling heart problems as a result of a long battle with bone cancer. A fundraiser was held at the Camillus Elks lodge for Katie Flynn.
To help with her medical costs not covered by insurance. Katie just received a heart transplant on Easter and is recovering at a hospital in Boston. In the meantime, people are doing what they can to help.
Diane Butler is Katie Flynn's aunt. "T
he feeling is amazing, it's overwhelming. Every time I turn around there is someone from my past who has come out to support this effort, so it's overwhelming
," says Butler.
Those out helping to "reciprokate" also want to raise awareness about becoming an organ donor. They say it's a critical part of survival for many people just like Katie.
If you would like to help contribute to her cause, you can do so by mailing a check to P.O. Box 15594, Syracuse, NY 13215. Checks should be made out to the Marcellus Sports Booster Club.
