More than 200 people will be out of work when a Cleveland-based company closes its two plants in Wayne County. Parker Hannifin Corp. has announced it will close its facilities in Lyons in Wayne County by the end of this year. The company specializes in refrigeration and air conditioning as well as automotive and commercial dryers.
The plants in Lyons, midway between Rochester and Syracuse, employ 230 workers.
The company says it's closing the plants because of global competition and changes in technology.
Parker Hannifin officials say some employees may be transferred within the company.
The company said it will sell or discontinue two product lines produced at the Lyons plants, while two other product lines will be manufactured at other facilities.
