Cops: Juvenile charged for comment about explosives at Pine Grove Middle School
TOWN OF MANLIUS, N.Y. —
Manlius Police say a juvenile has been arrested for making a comment about explosive materials in Pine Grove Middle School.
Police said the comment was allegedly made during dismissal from the East Syracuse-Minoa district school at about 3 p.m. Monday. Students who overheard the comment reported it to the principal, who then contacted police.
Officers and the district worked together to identify the student and investigate the threat, which police said was found to not be viable.
The juvenile, who is under 16, has been charged with second-degree Falsely Reporting an Incident, according to police. His name is not being released, police said. The case has been forwarded to Onondaga County Family Court.
Police said this incident is unrelated to a threat that prompted a lockdown at ESM High School last week. That incident remains under investigation.
