Cortland Co. woman charged with DWI after crashing into mailbox, utility pole
TOWN OF CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. —
A Cortland County woman was charged with DWI after she crashed into a mailbox and utility pole early Sunday morning, according to the Cortland County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said around 1:11 a.m. Sunday, authorities responded to a one-car crash on State Route 281 near the intersection of Hillside Drive in the Town of Cortlandville.
Danielle Chase, 32, was operating a 2017 Acura north on Route 281 when she lost control of the vehicle and slid off the roadway, damaging a mailbox and sheering off a utility pole.
Route 281 was closed for several hours while emergency and power company crews tended to downed power lines and replaced the utility pole, officials said.
It is unknown if the accident caused any power outages at nearby homes.
Officials said Chase was found to be intoxicated and uninjured. She was arrested, processed and later released to a third party. She is due in Cortlandville Court on Jan. 20.
