A Cortland County couple is under arrest after police say they were found to be making and possessing meth.
The Cortland County Sheriffâ??s Department tells CNY Central that on Saturday evening an officer stopped a vehicle on Morgan Drive in Cortlandville that Cortland city police were trying to find as part of a separate investigation. Deputies say during the traffic stop the officer and his K-9 companion discovered â??contrabandâ?? inside the vehicle. The officer says this â??contrabandâ?? was items used to make methamphetamine.
Police arrested 45-year-old Ramon Velazquez of Cortland and 38-year-old Candida Velazquez of Groton and charged them with felony unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine. Police say a small amount of meth was also found in the vehicle. Both Velazquezes, who are husband and wife, were arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court and remanded to the Cortland County jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
Police say their investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
