Cortland man charged with DWI after trying to outrun police on motorcycle, on foot

Dan Henry, of Cortland, was charged with DWI after trying to outrun police on a motorcycle and on foot

A Cortland man was arrested for felony DWI after failing to outrun police on motorcycle and foot, according to the Cortland County Sheriff's Office.

Daniel R. Henry, 50, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated because of a previous conviction, unlawful fleeing police and multiple traffic citations.

Sheriff's officers attempted to stop Henry for operating a motorcycle at a high rate of speed on State Route 13 in the city of Cortland at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. When officers tried to initiate the traffic stop, Henry fled at 25 miles per hour over the posted speed limit in an attempt to elude officers, according to authorities.

Henry was then taken into custody after dumping his motorcycle on Ames Road in the town Cortlandville and tried to outrun the officer in pursuit on foot.

He was arraigned in Cortlandville Court at 7:15 a.m.
