A 39-year-old Cortland man is going to prison for 5 to 15 years for causing a fatal head-on crash while he was high on cocaine.
Herman Bank, a pharmacist, was convicted on several manslaughter counts for the May 2007 crash that killed 18-year-old Henry Rivera of Irondequoit and 20-year-old Pedro Hernandez of Rochester. Bank was driving the wrong way on Interstate 590.
Henry Rivera Senior was in Monroe County Court Friday when Bank was sentenced. He told the judge there's nothing worse than having to bury your first-born son. But he said he's a man of faith and hopes Bank finds redemption one day.
Prosecutors say Bank had two previous car crashes when he was high on cocaine.
