A proposal to ban Cortaca for a year following the disruptive crowds at this year's event was voted down by the Cortland Common Council Tuesday evening.
The proposal, created by City Councilor Katy Silliman, failed by a vote of six to two.
The council did unanimously approve the creation of a commission that will work to prevent destructive celebrations in the future. The Council's Community Commission will work alongside administrators from SUNY Cortland.
SUNY Cortland has also created a similar commission that will look within the campus to find ways to prevent future incidents in order to separate traditional athletic contests from destructive partying.
