Cortland woman arrested after meth lab in her apartment explodes

A Cortland woman is facing charges after a meth lab at her apartment exploded, police say.

30-year-old Kimberly A. Cummings, of 132 Main Street, apartment 12, is charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and criminal possession of a controlled substance after chemicals in the meth lab in her apartment exploded.

Fire crews were able to evacuate the building, but three people were taken to the hospital for treatment after being exposed to chemicals that were sent into the air during the explosion. There is no word on any other injuries. Investigators found meth production equipment, chemicals and a quantity of meth in Cummingsâ?? apartment.

The investigation is still underway.
