Cortlandville home destroyed by overnight fire

A home in Cortlandville was destroyed after a fire broke out late Thursday night.

The Cortlandville Fire Department was called to a home at 3800 Clinton Street for a fire at a two story, single family home at about 11pm Thursday.

12 other companies were called to help battle the fire, which was brought under control in about an hour. Crews worked until about 3:30 am Friday dousing hot spots and making sure the fire was extinguished.

The cause is still under investigation.

Two people were home when the fire started, but were able to escape unharmed.

Preble, Willet, Groton, McLean, McGraw, Homer, Cincinnatus, Cortland, Marathon, Killawog and Dryden fire companies were called to help fight the fire.
