A Cortland County is man facing assault charges after beating a man who refused to let him repossess his vehicle, according to Cortland County Sheriffâ??s Sgt. David Tobias.
At about 9:00 PM last Tuesday, November 20, officers from the Cortland County Sheriffâ??s office were called to 3356 Route 26 in the Town of Taylor due to an assault that had happened during a vehicle repossession.
After what Sgt. Tobias called a brief investigation, it was learned that 38-year-old Michael G. Thayer attempted to repossess a vehicle for the lien holder on the vehicle. The victim stood in front of the vehicle, trying to prevent Thayer from repossessing it.

The victim was treated at the Cortland Regional Medical Center on the night of the incident.
