State police in Oneida arrested 45-year-old Evan P. Koster of East Ridge Point Drive in Fayetteville for driving while intoxicated, according to the New York State Police website.
The arrest followed a two car crash on Route 5 West in the village of Chittenango on Wednesday afternoon.
At about 3:57 PM on Wednesday afternoon, troopers were sent to Route 5 in the Town of Sullivan, near the Onondaga County line, for a two car accident involving personal injury.
The investigation, done by Trooper Thomas Watts, revealed that a 2004 Volvo V70, that was driven by Koster, was westbound on Route 5. The Volvo crossed the center line of the roadway and hit a 2005 Chevrolet pick up truck, being driven by 70-year-old Phillip J. Kelley of Olmstead Road in Chittenango, head-on.
Kelly had been stopped in the eastbound lane, waiting to make a left turn into a local business.
Trooper Watts determined at the scene that Koster was intoxicated and arrested him for driving while intoxicated.
Koster was processed at the state police barracks in Sullivan. A breath test showed Kosterâ??s blood alcohol content to be .21 percent.
Koster was issued tickets for aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right. He is scheduled for an appearance in Town of Sullivan Court on January 29.
Kelley was transported to Crouse Hospital in Syracuse because of chest pain.
