Crews fixing track after Central Square train derailment

Railroad crews are fixing train track after a train derailment in Central Square on Monday night.

Five rail cars on a CSX train carrying rock for track work derailed at around 6:30pm. The train with two locomotives and 23 freight cars was heading to Watertown from Syracuse.

Earlier on Saturday, train track washed out on the line in the same area. It's unknown if this washout caused the derailment. Crews are now restoring about 100 feet of track which was washed out. It's unknown what caused the washout.

No one was injured in either incident.
