Crowd kicked out of Faegan's in Syracuse turns on police - University students arrested

Eight current Syracuse University students were arrrested very early Thursday morning after what police describe as an awful night on the SU hill. Police were called to Faegan's Bar on South Crouse Avenue at 1:05 a.m. after a 911 call about a group of people who would not leave.

Officers arrived to find a crowd of about fifteen people who were drinking and arguing in the rear parking lot of Faegan's. Officers approached the unruly crowd and asked them to leave the premise, but the crowd refused. The crowd then began moving towards the front of Faegan's Bar while yelling and screaming at Faegan's employees.

Moments later police say the crowd turned on them, blocking traffic by standing in the street and refusing to leave upon police orders. Officers on the scene had to call in back up for their own safety - at one point they say "agitators" in the crowd caused about three hundred people to gather as a result of their behavior. No one was hurt.
