High-wire performer Nik Wallenda has chosen the 175th Erie County Fair as the site for his next Skywalk. The daredevil stunt is scheduled for Sunday, August 10 at 8:00 p.m.
The Erie County Skywalk will be 125 feet above the ground and stretch1,400 feet across across the fairgrounds. That will make it Wallenda's longest walk of 2014. It's longer than his Niagara Falls Skywalk, but shorter than his Grand Canyon crossing. Wallenda will walk right over the Erie County Fairgrounds and estimates it will take him about 30 minutes. The wire measures 5/8 of an inch in diameter, which is about the size of a nickel.
The Erie County Fair is in Hamburg, New York, which is about 20 minutes south of Buffalo. It's one of North America's largest fairs.
Wallenda is spending his summer in Western New York. He has a show at Darien Lake that runs twice a day through Labor Day.
