Daughter of Onondaga County District Attorney pleads guilty to driving while impaired

The daughter of Onondaga County's top prosecutor pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of driving while impaired.

Sara Fitzpatrick made the admission in Liverpool Village Court on Tuesday afternoon. She is the daughter of Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick.

Sara Fitzpatrick was arrested on December 27 and charged with DWI. Liverpool Police observed her driving 44 mph in a 30 mph zone along the 800 block of Oswego Street. The officer pulled her over along Onondaga Lake Parkway and conducted a sobriety test.

Court papers indicate Sara Fitzpatrick registered a blood alcohol content of .14, nearly two times the legal limit. In the documents, she told police she had one drink at a bowling alley before getting behind the wheel. The officer says she smelled of alcohol and her speech was slurred.

She will lose her license for 90 days and will have to pay a maximum fine of $500. She will also have to go through an alcohol program.

The case was handled by an Oneida County prosecutor.
