David Renz to be sentenced for child pornography

David Renz is led out of court after his arrest last year.

An Onondaga County man who cut off his ankle monitor before killing a woman and raping a 10-year-old girl faces sentencing for possessing child pornography.

The federal government is seeking up to 70 years in prison for David Renz when he's sentenced Wednesday morning in federal court in Syracuse.

Renz had been fitted with an ankle monitor while awaiting trial on the porn charges but cut it off before abducting Lori Bresnahan and the child at gunpoint from a mall parking lot last March. He'll be sentenced in that case in Onondaga County Court in May and is expected to get life in prison without the possibility of parole.

In court papers, Renz's attorney says he's endured a lifetime of physical pain, bullying and isolation because he was born with a facial deformity.
