Syracuse police have arrested the man responsible for the October 2012 shooting death of a man from South Carolina.
21 year-old Quincy Lundy of Syracuse was arrested Monday for a double shooting that happened on October 19, 2012 in front of 644 Catherine Street. Walter Belle III, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, was fatally wounded in the shooting. The other victim received minor injuries.
Deputy Chief Shawn Broton said the break in the case came in November 2013 when additional witnesses came forward. The information from these witnesses along with evidence from the scene led to Lundy's arrest.
Broton said Lundy is well-known to Syracuse police and has been arrested numerous times, including felony assault arrests. Lundy is charged with murder in the second degree. He is being held in the Justice Center, and will be arraigned Tuesday morning.
Broton said there had been a dispute between Lundy and Belle that started sometime during the two months after Belle moved to Syracuse from Long Island.
