One person is dead after a motorcycle accident in Eaton Wednesday morning.
The Madison County Sheriff's Department says two of motorcyclists were riding on State Route 26 near the hamlet of Hatch Lake when a deer entered the road.
Investigators say Todd A. DePasquale, 48, was hit on the side of his motorcycle by a deer and thrown from his bike. DePasquale was taken to Hamilton Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Another motorcyclist, Rosemarie Moore, 56, was riding behind DePasquale. Moore tried to avoid the accident and lost control of her bike. Moore was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse in critical condition. She has been upgraded to serious condition as of Thursday morning.
Both bikers were wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.DePasquale was off-duty from his position as a Deputy Sheriff Correction Officer for the Oneida County Sheriff TMs Office. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Mr. DePasquale TMs family and the men and women of the Oneida County Sheriff TMs Office, said Sheriff Allen Riley. State Route 26 was closed in both directions during the investigation and reconstruction by Sheriff TMs Deputies, but reopened shortly after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.
