Del Lago Resort and Casino prepares for February 1st Opening
The Las Vegas style Casino in Seneca County is still on par to open on February 1st, according to management.
Hundreds of cars filled the parking lot of the 85 acre site as employees, construction workers and contractors all worked on the many projects that must be completed prior to opening day.
"Well, we're getting close," said Jeff Babinski, the Executive Vice President and General Manager of del Lago. "Just about every slot machine is here with the exception of 71. We have over 1,060 team members on board. Going through orientation as we speak."
The del Lago (of the Lake) Resort & Casino is expected to cost $440 million to build. When complete, developers hope to create 1,800 jobs and bring in more than three million visitors each year to the Finger Lakes region.
Nearly 35% of those already hired live in Seneca or Cayuga Counties.
"They're excited!" said Babinski. "I want to see their faces when they finally come in, look and see and say 'oh my gosh' this is amazing."
Babinski said they are still hiring and those interested can go to the website.
