Delta flight leaving Syracuse has emergency landing due to small fire

A small fire aboard a Delta Air Lines plane headed to Atlanta has forced it to return to Hancock International Airport in Syracuse.

Airport authorities say that just after Delta Flight 1841 took off from Syracuse around 6 p.m. Monday a small fire ignited near a coffeemaker. Syracuse Aviation Commissioner Christina Callahan says the fire was quickly extinguished and the plane returned safely to Syracuse.

Delta's website shows that the plane reached Atlanta several hours later.
