Deputies: Newark woman charged after live-in boyfriend injured 11-month-old
Newark, N.Y. - A Newark woman is facing child endangerment charges. This comes after her live-in boyfriend was arrested last month for hurting an 11-month-child whom he was babysitting, according to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies.
Last month, 23-year-old Brandon Morris was arrested after Sheriff's deputies said he injured the 11-month-old while babysitting on two separate occasions.
Monday, the Sheriff’s office announced Kaitlyn Brazo, 23, had been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies said Brazo knew Morris had injured the 11-month-old, but did not report him or get medical help for the child. They accused her of failing to prevent further harm to the child, and that she let Morris continue to provide care when she wasn’t home.
Deputies said the baby suffered back injuries, which caused bleeding and scarring.
Brazo was arraigned in the Village of Newark Court and released on her own recognizance. An order of protection was issued.
