Deputy's murder suspect beat up in prison

Christian Patterson, awaiting trial for the murder of a sheriff's deputy, was attacked in the Oneida County Jail

The man awaiting trial in the shooting of Oneida County Deputy Kurt Wyman had to go to the hospital for stitches, after being assaulted in the Oneida County Jail. Oneida Sheriff's Deputies say 41 year old Christian Patterson was beat up Thursday night, and was treated at Faxton St. Luke's Hospital. Patterson is awaiting trial on murder charges, after last June's shooting of Deputy Wyman during a standoff.

Inmate Alonzo Thomas, Jr., arrested by Utica Police in October on drug charges after a traffic stop, is now also charged with assault in the jail incident, which is still under investigation.
