A 25 year-old dirt bike rider is in serious condition in the hospital after a crash with an SUV on Wednesday.
Syracuse police say around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon Victor Bird of Nedrow was traveling on Otisco Street, approaching Tioga Street when a Subaru Forester heading north on Tioga Street entered the intersection. The dirt bike and SUV collided, then the bike hit a sign pot before coming to a stop.
The driver of the SUV was identified as Joanna Jewett, 46, of Syracuse. She was not injured in the crash. Bird was taken to Upstate Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition.
Jewett has been ticketed for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
Bird was ticketed for unlicensed operation, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, uninsured operation and riding without a helmet.
Jewett and Bird are both scheduled to appear in Syracuse City Traffic Court at a later date to answer the charges.
