Dog shot and killed during attempted robbery on Syracuseâ??s south side

A dog was killed during an attempted armed robbery on Syracuseâ??s south side Sunday night.

Syracuse Police are investigating a robbery with shots fired that happened on Sunday night around 11:25 p.m. at 140 Kenmore Avenue.

Police say two unidentified suspects who were wearing masks and armed, one with a shotgun and one with a revolver, attempted to force their way into the residence but were confronted by "Smoke" the dog.

The suspects shot and killed the dog. Then they run from the scene.

Police say there were no people injured during the attempted robbery.

Police say they believed the house was targeted because the residents were selling marijuana at this location. 2 oz. of marihuana were recovered from the home.

This investigation is active and on going.
