The Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. has received a $500,000 grant through the New York Main Street program to continue to revitalize downtown.

The grant was announced Wednesday afternoon as part of the Regional Economic Development Council Awards.

This round of New York Main Street funds will target the Salina and Warren Street corridors, the Downtown Committee says.

Funds will support building renovations to convert vacancies into shopping and dining destinations, and new residences and offices, ultimately increasing density and street-level activity, according to the Downtown Committee.

This is the Downtown Committee’s sixth award through this program.

Since 2010, more than $650 million has been invested in redevelopment projects throughout downtown Syracuse. This includes more than $118 million in Armory Square and $76 million in the Convention District, for the rebirth of the Hotel Syracuse as the Marriott Syracuse Downtown.

The Downtown Committee will hold an informational meeting early next year, for eligible property owners to ensure they are aware of how to apply for funding.
