Drag race on Camillus street sends two to hospital

A motorcycle and a classic car collided while drag racing on the Route 5 Bypass in Camillus

Camillus Police are investigating a serious crash after they say a classic car and a motorcycle were drag racing near Hinsdale Road.

The crash occurred on the Route 5 bypass in the town of Camillus late this morning.

Police say a 1974 Chevy Nova, driven by Richard Golley, and a 2008 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, ridden by Jamie Murray, collided during an "unauthorized speed contest."

Murray was transported to Upstate Medical University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is listed in serious condition.

An 11-year-old passenger in the front seat of the car was also taken to Upstate with non-life-threatening injuries, and is listed in fair condition.

A portion of the road was shut down for about an hour and a half while the crash was being investigated.
