Driver in deadly Chenango County identified as 15-years-old

State police say a 15-year-old girl was behind the wheel of a car during an early-morning wreck that killed her and the driver of a minivan in Chenango County.

Troopers say Brandy Smith of Bainbridge was driving in the town of Oxford just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday when her Ford Focus crossed the center line and collided with a Dodge Caravan.

The Caravanâ??s driver, 48-year-old Oxford native David C. Clark, was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich where he later died.

There were six passengers in the Caravan, who were all taken to local hospitals
and are being treated for injuries, according to State Police.

Trooper Nathan Riegal says Monday he doesn't know if the other person in Smith's car is an adult. He also doesn't have information on the conditions of the survivors or if alcohol was involved in the wreck.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
