Tue, 25 Jun 2013 14:22:05 GMT — New Hartford Police have ruled the drowning death of 23-month-old Ashi Kah inthe Sauquoit Creek earlier this month as an accident. Police say Ashi, of Utica, escaped the supervision of her mother for a minute while at the Washington Mills Athletic Park on June 15. Ashi made her way into the Sauquoit Creek and was swept away by a strong current. Immediately after friends and family noticed Ashi was missing, police say they began to search for her. Ashi was found approximately 1000 feet downstream. She was pulled out of the water by family members and her mother began life saving techniques. Emergency Medical Services on the scene were able to obtain a faint pulse from Ashi and took her to the St. Elizabethâ??s Hospital Emergency Room where she was later pronounced dead. The New Hartford Police say the Sauquoit Creek was running at an extremely fast pace on the day of the incident due to excessive rain. Police say there will be no charges filed in this case .
