Fleet Feet, a premier running store in East Syracuse has a personal connection to the explosions at the Boston Marathon Monday afternoon.
Five people associated with the store ran in the marathon. Two are employees and trainers with the store's Boston 365 training program. The other three were runners with the program.
General Manager, Matt Werder, says they have spoken to their employees and know they are safe. They have not spoken to the three runners, but believe they are okay.
"we know that our two employees at Fleet Feet Sports, our two coaches are okay. As far as we know our training participants are as well. We've had a little bit of contact but it's hard to get in touch with people in that area right now," says Werder.
Cellphone companies say service is operating in the Boston area, but with heavy traffic following of the explosions at the Boston Marathon.
