East Syracuse teen mom admits falsely reporting she found a newborn

A teenage mother is under investigation after police say she falsely reported an abandoned baby.

DeWitt Police told reporters at the news conference announcing Dr. Robert Neulanderâ??s indictment that officers were called to the Franklin Park Apartments on Deerfield Road in East Syracuse early Monday morning for a report of an abandoned newborn. Police say a 17-year-old female told 911 dispatchers that she had found the baby.

Once officers arrived, the teen admitted that the baby was hers, and she had made up the story about finding it. She told police she had delivered the child that morning.

Police say the mother and baby are unharmed. No arrests have been made, though charges could be pending.
