Eaton man accused of trying to kill father with baseball bat
A Madison County man is under arrest after police say he tried to kill his father with a baseball bat and pepper spray.
According to State Police, around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday Troopers responded to a home on Route 26 in Eaton for a report of a man who had been hit with a baseball bat. Police say they learned that 20-year-old Vincent T. Stile address had gotten into an argument with his father, Anthony in their home. Vincent Stile allegedly became "extremely upset" after the argument and sprayed his father in the face with pepper spray while the elder Stile was laying on the couch. The son is then accused of striking his father 15 or 16 times in the head and body with a baseball bat.
Police say Anthony Stile was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of multiple skull fractures. He is listed in critical condition.
Vincent Stile has been charged with felony second degree attempted murder, felony first degree assault, and misdemeanor fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Eaton Town Court and taken to the Madison County Jail on $500,000 cash bail or $1 million bond.
