Madison County says they have found their second positive EEE test of the season.
The mosquito pool on Moore Road in the Town of Sullivan, not far from Cicero Swamp, is again the culprit.
There are no plans for aerial spraying, but Geoffrey Snyder, Madison County Health Departmentâ??s Director of Environmental Health notes that, "Individuals and families should continue to take steps that minimize their risk of mosquito bites. The EEE virus is in our environment and enhanced surveillance of EEE virus will continue through the season. Residents need to be attentive in their personal protection measures and in reducing mosquito breeding sites around their homes."
The health department recommends using mosquito repellants that contain DEET, Picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus. They also recommend removing any and all standing water, if possible, from areas near your home.
