EEE found in two Oswego County mosquito pools, aerial spraying to be scheduled

Two mosquito pools in Oswego County have tested positive for eastern Equine Encephalitis, according to the Oswego County Health Department.

One sample was taken from West Monroeâ??s Toad Harbor Big Bay Swamp area and the other was near the Village of Central Square.

Now, plans are underway to perform aerial spraying the affected areas. The spray zone, along with the date and time will be announced once finalized, the health department says.

Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang urges neighbors to take action to minimize their risk of being bitten by mosquitoes, such as using bug spray that contains DEET, Picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus, wearing clothes that cover your whole body and removing any standing water near your home.
