Chemung County Mental Health personnel and Elmira City School District officials are planning grief counseling for the first day of school, in the aftermath of a house fire that killed four children.
The Elmira Star-Gazette reports that the officials will meet Tuesday to plan for when school opens on Wednesday.
Three elementary school children and one in high school died in a fire Friday night at a home in Elmira, near the Pennsylvania border. Police and fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
Police on Monday confirmed the victims' names as 17-year-old Courtney Stanton, 10-year-old Amera Mansour, 7-year-old Nidal Mansour, and 5-year-old Jordan Mansour. Their mother, Tina Parker, and another daughter weren't home when the fire broke out around 9:20 Friday night.
