If youâ??re an Excellus BlueCross BlueShield customer, you could have money out there that you donâ??t know about.
The company announced Wednesday that more than 10,500 New Yorkers, including hundreds across Central New York, have forgotten about more than $1.45 million in checks issued by the company to members and providers in 2010.
If the funds arenâ??t claimed by the end of August, the money will be turned over to the state comptroller.
â??This is money that was paid for claims or refunded premiums. If the money remains unclaimed, it will go to the state,â?? said Christopher C. Booth, president and chief executive officer. â??It rightfully belongs to our members or providers, and we want to make sure they have one more chance to claim it before it goes to the state.â??
