Facebook used to lure potential Auburn armed robbery victim

Three suspects used Facebook to lure a potential robbery victim, Auburn Police say.

Officers were called to Bellevue Place and Woodruff Place for a report of shots fired. The victim told police that he responded to a Facebook message from a â??femaleâ?? who offered to meet him in that area. When the victim showed up, he was approached by three people with their faces covered, one of whom had a handgun.

The man ran, but was chased by the three suspects. They caught up with him and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, a shot was fired, but it did not hit the victim, police say.

The man was able to escape to a neighborâ??s house, and the resident called police. The suspects got away.

Witnesses confirm hearing the gunfire. Police say the motive behind the incident appears to be robbery.
