Father of Levon Wameling faces drug-related conspiracy charges

Jevon Wameling

Jevon Wameling was arraigned in City Court and pleaded not guilty to three counts of fourth degree conspiracy on Tuesday morning, according to the Utica City Court clerk

The charges stem from accusations that he tried to sell drugs this past summer.

The court clerk says the conspiracy charges are unrelated to Wamelingâ??s burglary arrest earlier this month. They are also unrelated to the case involving his son, Levon Wameling.

Wameling has waived his right to a hearing and the conspiracy charges will now go before an Oneida County grand jury. Wameling has not made bail and remains in jail.

Sgt. Steve Hauck says Utica Police are still awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death for Levon, whose body was found in the Mohawk River earlier this month and positively identified this weekend.

The Oneida County District Attorneyâ??s Office told the Utica Observer-Dispatch that anything Jevon said while he was being monitored during the Levon disappearance investigation could be used against him in their investigation.
