T he former Fayetteville Friendlys may become a Dunkin' Donuts. A development group that was working on plans to build a Dunkin' on the property in the lower village formerly occupied by the Fayetteville Dry Cleaners is controlling the property.
The Village of Fayetteville has been communicating with the developer about building a Dunkin' Donuts in a spot that is considered prime real estate in Fayetteville. Mayor Mark Olson says traffic entering and exiting the property would need to meet standards set by the State Department of Transportation. He adds the village is eager to have a business return to the Friendlys location that has sat vacant since the end of July.
The developer is holding onto the possibility of a Dunkin' in the lower village closer to Towne Center while it pursues the Friendlys location. JFJ Holdings LLC/Dunkin Donuts has done extensive preparatory work on the former dry cleaner location including meeting with the village planning board earlier this summer.
Ultimately, they only plan to open one location.
As was first reported on CNYCentral.com, the Bayberry Friendlys location that closed at the same time as the Fayetteville restaurant is now being convereted into a Moe's Southwest Grill.
