Final V-Not gang member pleads guilty to murder of high school basketball star

The last of the 11 V-Not gang members arrested for the murder of a Syracuse high school basketball star pleaded guilty.

28-year-old Kahari Smith admitted to conspiracy and intentionally shooting Henninger High School basketball player Kihary Blue back on November 26th, 2010. The shooting was part of a feud between the V-Not and the Bricktown gangs.

Smith shot at another car while driving on Interstate 81 in downtown Syracuse. Earlier this week 27-year-old Habakkuk Nickens admitted to driving the car into position so Smith could shoot and kill Blue, who was a passenger in the back seat of the other car.

As part of the guilty plea, Smith admitted to conspiracy to exploit gang members and protecting a territory to sell crack using violence charges between at least 2003 and May of 2012. This includes cases of murder and attempted murder going back to 2010.

He admitted to other charges including possessing cocaine, marijuana, cash in multiple cases stemming back to 2007.

Smith could face up to life in prison, a $250,000 fine and five years of supervision following any release from prison.
