Fire at Cicero home caused by possible lightning strike
At least six fire companies were called to the scene of a house fire in Cicero Thursday morning. Emergency scanners say the house may have been hit by lightning during storms that rolled through the area.
The fire at the home on Alizarin Avenue was called in just after 8:30 am, with fire crews from Cicero, Clay, Bridgeport, North Syracuse, South Bay and Moyers Corners called to fight the fire.
The homeowner reports that she heard a loud thunderclap. She says the power went out and soon after she smelled smoke. The fire was confined to a second floor bedroom, according to a Cicero Fire spokesman.
No one was injured in the fire and officials say the home is livable, except for the one bedroom.
