Emergency crews on the scene of a fire at Syracuse Police Patrol Headquarters on Erie Boulevard.

Emergency crews were on the scene of a fire at the Syracuse Police Patrol Headquarters this evening.

The flames broke out just before 4 p.m. at the patrol headquarters on Erie Boulevard between Teall Avenue and Midler Avenue. Officials say the fire was contained to the garage area of the building.

Officials say a workplace accident started the fire, but the exact cause is still unknown. Some gasoline caught fire, causing vehicles to ignite.

Police attend roll call daily at Patrol East, but the area where police locker rooms are located is still intact.

Two garage personnel were injured. One suffered from minor smoke inhalation. The other has minor burns and was hospitalized.
