A firefighter is recovering from minor injuries after a fire causes extensive damage to an auto parts store in the city of Oneida.
The call to Gary's Auto Parts on 651 Fitch Street came in just before 8:30 Wednesday morning.
The fire started in the shop area where auto repairs are conducted; it's attached to the main building.
While investigators are still working to figure out how the fire started, they say a number of flammable materials fueled the flames.
Oneida Deputy Fire Chief Darrin Ball says one firefighter suffered a minor injury because of strains and exhaustion. That individual was taken to Oneida Healthcare for treatment.
The Oneida Fire Department was assisted by volunteers from Lincoln and Wampsville Fire Departments.
Ball says firefighters were able to contain the fire to the shop area, so the retail portion of the business was relatively clear from damage.
Our guys made a good stop, so that the rest of the business is operable
," Ball says.
