First look at burglary suspect shot by Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputy

Arcadio Figuera

We are getting our first look at the burglary suspect who was shot by an Onondaga County Sheriff's deputy last month.

Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies have released the picture of 58-year-old Arcadio Figuera, of 207 Everingham Road in the Town of Onondaga.

On May 8, investigators say two detectives and one police division deputy transported Figueroa to his home to recover property he had stolen. While inside the home, deputies say Figueroa grabbed a hidden shotgun under a mattress and pointed it at officers.

Deputies say before he pulled the trigger, he was shot twice by an officer. Figueroa was taken to Upstate University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Figueroa is charged with menacing a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, burglary, grand larceny and petit larceny.

The deputy who was involved in the shooting was later cleared of any wrongdoing.
