If youâ??ve enjoyed the First Night New Yearâ??s Eve event in the past, this year will be a big treat.
Organizers announced Wednesday that the event, complete with activities for the kids and the iconic orange ball drop, will be free. Onondaga Lake Parkway will be left open as well, doing away with the shuttle system used in previous years.
Headlining the event will be Hanson, the boy band who first struck radio gold in 1996 with their hit â??MMMbopâ??.
The group has gained recent popularity with the release of their sixth studio album â??Anthemâ??.
The event will be alcohol-free, as organizers want families to come out and enjoy the fun. Last year, the event drew over eight thousand people, and with free admission, many more are expected to fill the park this year.
