Forecast - Sloppy Tuesday morning, lake snow at night

A messy mixture of snow and sleet might leave another coating to an inch before giving way around mid-morning, according to meteorologist Peter Hall.

When the messy precipitation leaves the area, it will be a mostly quiet mid-morning to early afternoon. There might even be a break of sun around noon. However, between 3-5 PM, a squall with a quick burst of snow and graupel is expected.

Lake effect snow east of Lake Ontario will start Tuesday night. There are lake effect snow warnings in effect for these areas from Tuesday night into Thursday morning. By the time all is said and done, 1 to 2 feet of snow could be dumped in persistent bands.

Todayâ??s high in the Syracuse area is expected to be 39 degrees with a low of 24.
