Volunteer groups are continuing to shoulder the responsibility of cleaning and maintaining Forman Park in Syracuse.
Forman Park is part of the Connective Corridor project, and since the beautification, no one had been keeping up with weeding and watering the plants there. That burden was to fall on property and business owners in the corridor, but the sizable tax levy was voted down by the Common Council.
Members of the community, businesses and organizations have come together to help keep the park looking its best.
On July 27, a group started getting the park back into shape.
Saturday, another group, headed by the Police Retirees Association, took to the park to do their part. Pete Ruszczak President of the Police Retirees Association says: â??We do have a police monument in the park, so itâ??s partially our responsibility to help clean up.â??
These groups are a temporary solution to a long-term concern, but the pride they take in their community shines with every weed pulled.
