Former Cayuga County Treasure's office employee accused of stealing over $25,000

Wed, 28 Aug 2013 17:52:08 GMT — Cayuga County deputies arrested former Cayuga County Treasurer's Office employee for allegedly stealing from over $25,000 over five years, from 2007 to 2012.69-year-old Miriam A. Knapp, of Venice Center, is charged with felony grand larceny and felony falsifying business records.This comes after the Cayuga County Treasurer's Office first reported the theft of $17,000 in cash payments from multiple property tax collections back in 2007.The office also reported $8,000 in tax collections stolen in 2012.Several leads helped tie Knapp to both cases in the investigation.Knapp was arraigned in Auburn City Court Tuesday afternoon and released.The investigation is still ongoing.
