Former President Bill Clinton is helping out a fellow Democrat in his Central New York congressional race.
Clinton arrived in Syracuse early Friday afternoon to endorse Dan Maffei
's challenge of freshman Republican Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle. He spoke in front of a mostly partisan crowd at the Landmark Aviation hangar at Hancock Airport.
Polls are showing a tight race for Buerkle's 24th Congressional District seat. She defeated then-incumbent Maffei in a similar matchup two years ago.
Clinton also planned to stop in Rochester for a rally to endorse the re-election campaigns of Democratic Representatives Louise Slaughter and Kathy Hochul in their western New York districts.
