Former Trenton Town Supervisor sentenced to two years in child sexual abuse case

      Mark Scheidelman

A former scoutmaster and Trenton Town Supervisor was sentenced to two years in prison for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy.

Mark Scheidelman, 53, was sentenced Wednesday in Oneida County Court in Utica. In May, a jury convicted him of first-degree sexual abuse.

Scheidelman was supervisor for the town of Trenton when state police arrested him last November and charged him with having sexual contact with a child younger than 11. Police say the abuse occurred at his home.

Scheidelman was also a former chairman of the county Republican Committee.
